John M. Pickell
After graduating from Col-Hi I attended the Colorado School of Mines, the University of Arkansas and Wharton School of Finance. I was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. I have been Group Vice-President at the Fruin-Colnon Corporation in St. Louis, MO, President of the Associated Maintenance Contractors of America in St. Louis, MO, Executive Vice-President of the HIW America, Inc. in New York, NY and President of the Pioneer Point Corporation in Pine Bluff, AR. I am semi-retired and an Ordained Elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA).
I am married to my wife, Alpha, and we have 4 children: Slocum (43), David (43), Deupree (41) and Loriane (39). They have given us 5 grandchildren: Ashton (15), Brett (13), Alexandra (11), Matthew (11) and Adam (10). My hobbies are ocean sailing, motor boating, trout fishing, traveling and gardening.

C. E. "John Marion Pickell, 73, of Heber Springs, Arkansas passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Mr. Pickell was born July 11, 1942 in Fort Huachuca, Arizona. He was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and was a 1960 graduate of Bartlesville College High School. After high school, he attended the Colorado School of Mines and the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville. Following his education, Mr. Pickell began a long and successful career in the construction and engineering fields. He first worked as safety engineer and project engineer on hydropower projects in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Alabama. Thereafter, he worked as a project manager on the construction of mills and factories in Cincinnati, Ohio; Green Bay, Wisconsin; Long Beach, California; and Mehoopany, Pennsylvania. He and his family moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where he was employed by Fruin-Colnon Corp. as Vice-President. He was a past national president of the Associated Maintenance Contractors. After moving to Pine Bluff, Arkansas, he founded Pioneer Point Corporation, where he served as President and CEO. He retired in 2008 and relocated to Heber Springs, Arkansas.

Mr. Pickell was an active member at First United Methodist Church in Heber Springs, where he was a member of the Methodist Men's Group. He headed up the group's Wounded Warrior fishing weekend in 2014 and 2015. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Heber Springs, and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

He loved sailing, was an avid traveler, and was an expert tomato farmer.

Mr. Pickell was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Slocum Pickell, and his parents, Marion Williams Pickell and Grace Bolinger Pickell.

Survivors include his wife, Alpha Pickell of Heber Springs, Arkansas; a son, J. Slocum Pickell (Allison) of Little Rock, Arkansas; a daughter, Deupree Kelly (Tim) of Rison, Arkansas; a daughter, L.R. Loriane Pickell of Fayetteville, Arkansas; a step-son, David Coe (Rhonda) of Hernando, Mississippi; a sister, Nancy Johnson (Jerry) of Denver, Colorado; a brother, Frank Pickell (Margaret) of Friendswood, Texas; five grandchildren, John Ashton Pickell, Catherine Alexandra Pickell, Brett Alan Kelly, Matthew Bryan Kelly, and Adam David Coe; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many other friends and family members.
